Citadel Sounds

Music is a big deal at The Citadel. From weekly live music events, the Verizon Artist Lounge, a rotation of live Dj’s on the roof, and even the (curated) music in the Food Hall, we’re intentional when it comes to sounds. Though we have had to hit the pause button on live music for now, we can all still enjoy the sounds & people that push the Miami music culture forward!

The Citadel Miami will be releasing weekly playlists that highlight incredible talent.

Our first Citadel Sounds playlist is an ode to those Miami Locals who have put Miami on the music map. Curated by our Music Director @dre88, who epitomizes what the Miami music culture is all about, unity and support! Stay tuned for our first playlist dropping Friday! #TheCitadelMIA

Our second Citadel Sounds playlist was curated by South Florida’s most Miami radio personality, Lucy Lopez.  As co-host of the very popular “Power Morning Show” with Dj Zog on Power 96.5 FM she reps our community at all levels and connects with locals of all ages. Last year, she became part of The Citadel family as she broadcasts live from our second floor’s Entercom Communication studios.  Her energy is very contagious, and her jokes are hilarious.  She put together a diverse set of songs with some Miami flare for your listening pleasure!

Citadel Sounds playlist #3 has been curated by the founder of @theartplug and  @artplugpowerhouse.  Marcel Katz combines art dealership, multi-sensory art installations, and artist representation to push the art world to new levels. This Miami native continuously joins music, art, party, and social media experiences to make an impact in our city.

Katz started working with artists five years ago during his time in nightlife as the creative director for the Opium Group, one of Miami’s most premiere entertainment hospitality group of its time. His passion for art continued to grow – he started collecting and selling artwork, which lead to him managing artists and expanding to starting his own businesses. In under five years he has worked with some of the industry’s finest artists while becoming the world’s youngest Salvador Dali dealer at only 30 years old. Katz has access to work from over 70 artists including Andy Warhol and Keith Haring.

“The Artplug 2020” playlist is Marcel Katz’ hand selected chilled out electronic mix perfect for fun in the sun, cruising along, and working from home.

Our 4th playlist, curated by local Haitian artist Mikaben, is sure to get you moving this weekend!

Born in Port-au-Prince Mikaben is a versatile artist, singer, composer and producer. Accompanied by his guitar or full band, Mikaben is one of the rare artist of his generation to excel in all genres; whether the good old Haitian compas, world music, the Antillean Zouk, the dance hall, the Jamaican reggae and RnB / HipHop.

As an artist, Mikaben composed, produced and performed on albums by Carimi several pieces to success, including “Baby I missed you” that has over 3 million views on Youtube, “Fanm sa Move” that 1.4 million views. On the other hand he has also collaborated with T-Vice, Leila Chicot, Kreyol La, his father Lionel, Bélo, Stanley Georges, Alan Cave, Izolan, Olivier Duret, J Perry, Wesli Band to name a few.

Our 5th playlist, curated by The New Tropic’s Chris Adamo, is all about riding through.

During the Quarantine, Chris has been riding his bike to the exact number of each calendar day (it’s called the Calendar Club and in April he got up to 490 miles). He was curious about songs related to riding, which sparked me to make this playlist called “Riding Through It”.

This playlist will inspire us to get outside now that we’re moving toward reopening. If you are going on a bike ride, these are the tunes you want to roll out to on the streets of Miami. Enjoy and tag Chris whenever you give it a listen (@chrisadamo)

Our 6th and final playlist was curated Manuvers, founder of The Love Below.

Manuvers began to DJ in 1993 and has since made his mark in Miami with his friends by investing a lot of his time and effort into shaping the city’s music and nightlife culture. He’s had a hand in the development of Chocolate Sundays at Purdy Lounge, the longest running party in Miami, as well as the newer, revolutionary party The Love Below.

Although Manuvers enjoys jazz, funk and disco, he attributes hip-hop to his vast appreciation of music and to molding him into the innovative producer he is today. The self-proclaimed 305 representative has been involved in countless music driven affairs in the past but prefers to focus his energy into Music production, and growing The Love Below worldwide.
